Finca San Antonio Amatepec was founded in 1970 and consisted of 35 mansanas (24.5 hectares). The land was dedicated to growing Jaragua grass for cattle and only had two trees - one Zapote tree and a Hawthorn tree. In that year, Mr. Carlos Antonio Boza Dreyfus, owner of the farm, decided to turn this land into a coffee farm and began to plant it with the Bourbon Elite varietal.
In the next years to come, he continued buying more neighboring land and planting more Bourbon and Pacas. Today Finca San Antonio Amatepec totals an area of 150 m2 (105 hectares).
The farm has been Rainforest Certified since 2009 with very high compliance scores - 91%, 94%, 97% and in 2013 it scored 98%.
During harvest, more than 90 workers do their best job in picking and selecting the best beans to maintain the best quality. All this work is recognised by paying 25% more than other farms in the neighbourhood. This is the first year that this farm is completely processed in Beneficio Tuxpal - a fully traceable facilty with the best processing practices.
