We use Stripe.com as our payment gateway. Payment by credit card is a two step process:
1 - Authorisation of the credit card - made at time of order for the amount of the order. No funds are captured at this point
2 - Take payment - this is done once the coffee has been sent and funds will be captured up to the Authorisation amount
Stripe requires that step 2 - Take Payment - occurs within 7 days of authorisation. If this is not done then we cannot take payment and the payment is essentially cancelled.
Occasionally, due to various delays we cannot capture within the 7 day window and will request the customer to make a new payment.
