Only just missing out on the Top 10, from the 500+ submissions, but by no means any less exceptional, we got to bring home the Cauca Best Cup Micro lot Runner-up, Alexander Bermudez from Finca El Paraiso in Tunia. It was a great result alongside our other win, Benito Rosero from Finca El Pino the #8 micro lot winner.
Alexander Bermudez’s coffee holds the traditional cup profile of Cauca coffees, think delicate florals, syrupy sweetness and tropical fruits. The proximity to the equator along with the regions stable seasons and terroir means the cup makes for a high acidity, medium body and caramel-like profile. Bermudez’s coffee has a very clean, fresh and creamy mouthfeel. Notes of vanilla, lime and maple are distinct with subtleties of peach and rose coming through.
