Almond, orange and sweet caramel. Our Chapadao de Ferro coffee from Brazil is a natural processed coffee which means the coffee beans are dried with the skins still on before husking. This imparts a wonderful funky fruity flavour into the coffee which is delicious as a filter.

We roast this coffee medium light and you should be able to pick up orange notes almonds and caramel. We quite like 32g of coffee with 500g of water, but as always this is just a guide so play around and experiment to taste.

Farm details

Chapadao de Ferro literally translates to “Iron Plateau” and shares its name with the surrounding area and its unique iron rich volcanic soil. The soil conditions greatly benefit the coffees, producing exotic flavour and an unmistakable aroma.

The farmer, Ruvaldo Delarisse, and his family are committed to quality and have a hands on involvement in all stages of the process on the farm. First place in the last three years of the Minas Gerais Quality Coffees Contest shows the Dearisse’s commitment to quality standards, investment and both environmental and social responsibilities.
A rigorous harvesting process ensures only ripe fruits are picked. All lots are first washed to select cherries which are then dried naturally in their skins on large patios. After a period of rest the lots are processed and carefully stored in warehouses.
