For filter, we roast this amazing coffee light so expect nectarine juiciness, a long sweet red berry finish and a spicy aroma. We recommend 30g of coffee with 500g of water, but as always this is just a guide so experiment to taste.

Farm Details

Munkaze Coffee is the name of the company and washing station set up by Mr Ephem Sebatigita in the Kayanza region of Burundi, close to the Rwandan border. Ephem has a close relationship with a group of individual smallholder farmers and farmer cooperatives which enables him to both secure supply and develop the quality of the coffee bought to his wash station.

Munkaze coffee is the result of careful cherry selection and high quality control at the washing station. Processed coffee is collectively grouped into small microlots of between just 3 and 6 bags. The hard work put in by the producers and importers out in Burundi has produced a juicy sweet cup with wonderful complexity. Our batch, microlot #1, is graded ‘HDG’ which is the densest grade of coffee and regarded as the highest quality.
