Farm Details
Munkaze Coffee is the name of the company and washing station set up by Mr Ephem Sebatigita in the Kayanza region of Burundi, close to the Rwandan border. Ephem has a close relationship with a group of individual smallholder farmers and farmer cooperatives which enables him to both secure supply and develop the quality of the coffee bought to his wash station.
Munkaze coffee is the result of careful cherry selection and high quality control at the washing station. Processed coffee is collectively grouped into small microlots of between just 3 and 6 bags. The hard work put in by the producers and importers out in Burundi has produced a juicy sweet cup with wonderful complexity. Our batch, microlot #1, is graded ‘HDG’ which is the densest grade of coffee and regarded as the highest quality.
