A floral coffee with a delicious pineapple sweetness, and notes of honey, pineapple and marzipan.
Ethiopia is unique in the coffee growing world. It is the birthplace of coffee. It is estimated that half of Ethiopia’s coffee production is consumed domestically – which makes coffee integral to not only the economic, but also the cultural identity of the country. Old-growth indigenous trees shade the coffee grown in the single hectare areas farmed by the small holders of Hunda Oli co-operative and at an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level, with abundant heirloom varieties it is no surprise that this coffee is complex and nuanced. Training in cherry selection and proper processing is provided, ad washing stations have been installed – the result of which is a high quality, delicious coffee which is starting to make waves in the African ‘Taste of Harvest’ cupping competition.
