Delicious, balanced milk chocolate driven Panamanian coffee with back notes of nougat and white grape followed by a long sweet finish.
The north of Panama is a truly dramatic place, formed of rolling volcanic hills and dense primary rainforest. Finca Eleta is a medium sized coffee farm nestled in this beautiful, lush environment. It is just the other side of the border from the Juruntungo farm in Costa Rica that Artisan Roast have bought from, and both farms share a terrior where coffee thrives alongside the rich natural biodiversity of the Central American cloud forests.
This particular micro-lot is a premium selection from Finca Eleta that the family call 'El Capitain'. It's a washed process coffee comprised of all four cultivars currently grown on the farm and has been selected by the farm on cup quality. It's beautifully balanced and a smooth medium weight creamy mouthfeel supports primary flavours of milk chocolate, nougat and white grape. Other subtle flavours of pear and cranberry and caramel work harmoniously with the structured grape like acidity.
We've been drinking this as an aeropress at the roastery - we think the bold milk chocolate and nougat flavours and creamy mouth feel work very well with this brew method. As a filter the more delicate white grape and pear flavours along with the structured acidity come to the fore. Whatever your preference of brew method Finca Eleta is an accessible, moreish and quality coffee.
